A Few of My Favorite Things | Marquee Letters
Today I'm starting a new series on the blog, A Few of My Favorite Things. As much as I love writing about all the fun and adventures I have as a photographer, I want to be sure to share a bit more about myself, so you, my wonderful readers, can get to know me at a more personal level!
Even if you only know me through social media, you know I'm a HUGE fan of marquee letters! So much so that I was determined to have them at my own wedding almost two years ago. I knew I wanted something that you wouldn't see at every. single. wedding. I set out to find the perfect marquee letters to spell out L-O-V-E (because hey, that's what weddings are all about, right?)!
After searching for a few months and being unsuccessful in finding exactly what I had pictured in my head, I turned to Google, and stumbled across a fabulous DIY marquee letter tutorial from Evan & Katelyn. Let me tell you, it was one of the most FABULOUS things I'd ever found on the internet!
At this point, it was about 6-8 months before our wedding day. I was working for my family's hardware store at the time, so luckily I was able to get most of the supplies I needed from there! Blood, sweat and tears went into making these letters (literally-- that metal flashing on the sides of the letters is sharp!), and I finally finished the marquee letters below with 3 days to spare!
These beauties stand about 2 feet tall, and lit up the dance floor of our wedding reception in front of the DJ's booth. Now, they decorate our dining room! Do you have wedding decor that can be re-purposed after you say your I Do's? If so, I'd love to hear!
