LIGHTING
By having a simple window in the room where you’ll be getting ready, we are able to create portraits with soft light. We prefer natural light so the more windows, the better!
RING BOXES
A nice ring box can add so much to your detail shots! Pick one that matches your wedding colors or theme. The Mrs. Box has beautiful velvet ring boxes with the option for personalization! Etsy also has a wide variety of ring boxes in different shapes, colors, and sizes.
KEEP ALL THREE RINGS
The most common detail missing when we arrive to a bride are the wedding rings! Moms, officiants, and planners will tell you to hand over your wedding bands to the best man before the day begins. However, it’s actually better to hand it over after wedding prep so we can get some great ring shots while you’re getting ready! This allows us to take those photos early in the day, which means you won’t have to take your rings off later.
HANGER FOR THE DRESS
Brides, make a note to yourself to bring a nice wooden hanger to display your dress on for photos on your wedding day. Wooden hangers are a great alternative to the plastic ones you may get from a bridal salon. They photograph beautifully, and give your photos a much higher-end look! Also, don’t forget to have any pins or stuffing removed. This gives us more time to find the perfect place to photograph your dress, rather than spending those precious minutes unpinning and hanging.
HAIR & MAKEUP
We encourage brides to have at least their makeup done before we start because who wants a ton of photos without their makeup on?! Nobody.
EXTRA ELEMENTS
Sometimes, depending on the theme and style of your wedding day, there may be some extra elements that you could include when you gather your details. For example, you could include a few extra floral pieces from your florist for us to use when photographing your rings and jewelry. This really makes for beautiful, consistent gallery and album spreads!
BOUQUETS & BOUTONNIERES
Don’t forget about your flowers since you’ll both need these for the first look and portraits! Have the bouquets delivered to where the bride is getting ready and boutonnieres to the groom. If it’s hot, don’t worry! We’ll be sure to keep the bouquets in water as much as possible before the ceremony.
GIFTS
Are you two exchanging gifts on your wedding day? If so, be sure to have these ready too. We want to be sure to document them for you!
CREATE A CUSHION
Creating a 10-minute cushion every now and then is a great idea. It’s amazing how quickly time slips away the day of!
