Vendor Highlight | Creative Concepts by Lisa
I’m always excited to highlight wedding vendors we enjoy working with, and today’s featured wedding planner is no different! Lisa Antonecchia, owner and lead planner of Creative Concepts by Lisa, is a Hamden, Connecticut-based wedding and events planner, serving couples in Connecticut, Massachusetts, and New England. Arturo and I first worked with Lisa on one of our 2018 weddings, and we’ve absolutely adored her ever since!
Lisa’s attention to detail ensures that each of the weddings she and her team plan and execute flow as smoothly as possible. When I say wedding planners are worth the investment, it’s professionals like Lisa that I’m talking about! Every event we’ve photographed that she and her team run have been flawless, which in turn made our jobs as wedding photographers that much easier!
Not only is Lisa an incredible wedding planner loved by her clients and fellow vendors alike, but she’s also a Justice of the Peace! We had the pleasure of photographing a wedding last spring which Lisa officiated, and it was one of our favorite ceremonies to date. She included sweet details about the bride and groom and truly customized the ceremony to who they were as a couple.

Tell me a bit about you and your business! How did you get started in the wedding industry?
”I got started while I was in college at the Boston Conservatory. Even afterward, I was always in and out of the event industry when theatre and dance were not paying bills. Then here I was in Connecticut, and I had simply decided after several terrible jobs in the administrative side of the theatre and television industry that I’d had enough. It was literally midnight at my dining room table and I decided to “go for it”. 13 years later here I am!”
What do you love most about being a wedding planner?
"I enjoy having the opportunity to work with new people all the time! I also love creating their individual experiences that don’t have to be anybody else’s. There are always new people, new ideas, and new moments to share! That is truly wonderful to have at any job!”
What should couples know about your process and about working with you?
"Be prepared to have fun, and also be prepared for a little tough love (if you need it!). This should be enjoyable and memorable, but there are tough decisions and family dynamics that come to play and we will tackle them head-on, together!”
What is your favorite part about working with couples who are planning their wedding day?
"Getting to know the couple and being on their journey with them! What an incredibly unique opportunity we have in our industry. We are literally there for one of life’s BIGGEST moments, so I don’t take that lightly. I’m incredibly honored to be a part of it!”
What (or who) inspires your creativity?
"My couples! They must inspire me, or we’re not a good fit! Allowing their passion and style to be the inspiration that drives the event is key to creating any great wedding! Life shows us inspirational moments all the time: mother nature, children, live performances, music… just keep your eyes open and then, bring it back around to your clients’ wedding day and have fun doing it!”
How early should couples book you to ensure you'll be available for their wedding day?
"Due to the pandemic and the way it impacted the wedding industry, the sooner you book the better. Dates are filling up fast straight into 2023. I think the biggest mistake couples make when hiring a planner is getting started on their planning without one, and then coming back around to hire them during the process. It is truly so important to ask for help at the beginning of the wedding planning journey in order to create the seamless experience you deserve!”
What is one tip or piece of advice you'd give a couple for their wedding day?
"On the day of the wedding, enjoy yourselves, take moments to be together, and embrace it all. When people say the day goes by so quickly, they are telling you the truth! If you don’t savor the moments as a couple, you’ll look back with regret. Love each other and enjoy each other all day long! You deserve to be 100% present in each, and every minute of the day, so do it! (This also means you don’t need your cell phone during your wedding you hired a fabulous photographer to take care of it!”
