Kelli & Company | Vendor Love
Back in February, I worked with Kelli Szluka of Kelli & Company, a boutique graphic design company based in Bedford, New York. Kelli's experience as a graphic designer is quite impressive; she's worked with large television networks such as WE tv and the History Channel in addition to designing beautiful stationery for weddings and events! Her wedding invitation suites especially caught my eye, and I just knew I had to share Kelli's lovely work with my readers. I am so excited to have Kelli join my Vendor Love blog series! Read on to learn more about Kelli, her work and wonderful words of advice for couples who are planning their wedding day!
Tell me a bit about you and your business! How did you get started in the wedding industry?
"Kelli & Company is a full-service graphic design firm. We work across a variety of industries from for everything from major television networks (WE tv, AMC Networks, History Channel, FX, A&E, CNN) to pharmaceutical companies, to cosmetics manufacturers — with logos, websites and custom letter-pressed stationery thrown in for good measure. In 2010, I designed my own wedding invites and it all just started to spiral from there."
What do you love most about your craft?
"I love the opportunity to make things beautiful! Whether it be corporate branding and event branding for a wedding or bar/bat mitzvah, I put my heart and soul into making it look gorgeous!"
What should couples know about your process and about working with you?
"It’s a team effort and we must have fun! There’s nothing I do that should be stressful. This is the fun part of your planning, the chance where you get to be creative. Enjoy it and approach it with a relaxed attitude."
What is your favorite part about working with couples who are planning their wedding day?
"I’m always honored when a couple asks me to be a part of their planning. I love to help them to make their vision and dream a reality and the best part of it is seeing them fall in love with what we have created!"
What (or who) inspires your creativity?
"On a daily basis, my daughter inspires me. She sees the world so differently, and abstractly. When it comes to my work, I am really into interior décor trends. I try to find ways to incorporate those on paper."
How early should couples book you to ensure you'll be available for their wedding day?
"Six months (eight, if you want matching save the dates!). We will do rush jobs, but we prefer to have plenty of time to guarantee we keep the whole process stress free and fun!"
As a stationery designer, what is one tip or piece of advice you'd give a couple for their wedding day?
"I can’t stress this enough: no matter what, the invitations are the first piece the guests will see pertaining to your wedding. They set the tone for your day! They tell the guests not only the most important details, but also that you have put a lot of time into each and every aspect of the day."
