Fleurish | Vendor Love
I originally met Tori and the team of Fleurish about a year ago, but finally had the chance to work with these talented creatives last June at Julia & Matt's Guilford Yacht Club wedding! One aspect of Tori's work which I absolutely love is her fresh take on colorful designs. Every time one of her posts show up in my Instagram feed I swoon over her creations! I recently chatted with Tori a bit and am so excited to have her join my Vendor Love blog series. To my couples looking for a creative florist for their upcoming wedding, you'll definitely want to meet the Fleurish team!
Tell me a bit about you and your business! How did you get started in the wedding industry?
"My background is in graphic design and business. 11 years ago, fed up with corporate life, I bought a flower shop with a friend. We did 2 weddings in our first 3 years; we now average over 20 weddings per year!"
What do you love most about floral design?
"I love being able to be creative every day. Flowers are just another artistic medium, like paint, and floral design is creating 3D art. I also love the interaction with people, and the ability to bring them some joy, preferably in happy times, but even in times of sorrow."
What should couples know about your process and about working with you?
"We are a small business. Our team works together with our couples from the initial consult through to their wedding day. The people you meet with are the same ones doing all of your design work and installation. It is a very personal process for all involved."
What is your favorite part of working with couples who are planning their wedding day?
"This sounds corny, but getting to know our couples (and often their extended family) and working together to help bring their vision to fruition is is deeply satisfying. It’s so exciting to be a part of this time in a couple’s life! We often stay in touch after the wedding... that’s how much we connect!"
What (or who) inspires your creativity?
"Our clientele inspires us with their requests and visions… but I personally get inspiration from visiting the flower market almost every day. I’m a very visual person, so actually seeing and touching the product – the mix of colors and textures – is hugely inspiring."
How early should couples book you to ensure you'll be available for their wedding day?
"Ideally 4 months or more. We have done weddings with just a few weeks’ notice and one memorable affair for 250 guests with just 24 hours notice (though we don’t recommend that!)!"
As a floral designer, what is one tip or piece of advice you'd give a couple for their wedding day?
"Work closely with your vendors in the time you have prior to your wedding, make your decisions, then let the professionals do their job. Your only job should be to enjoy each other and this incredible day! Do not get caught up in micro-managing details or trying to do too much yourself."
If you don't already, be sure to follow Tori and the Fleurish team to stay up to date with the latest projects and floral creations!
