Elegant Tented Wedding at Smith Farm Gardens in East Haddam, CT | Rachel & Colin

A SUMMER WEDDING AT SMITH FARM GARDENS

Despite the summer humidity and unexpected rainstorms, Rachel and Colin’s Smith Farm Gardens wedding in East Haddam, Connecticut was one for the books! With thoughtful details, a picturesque Connecticut countryside, and a couple so clearly in love, their celebration was nothing short of unforgettable. Smith Farm Gardens is truly a dream venue for couples seeking classic New England charm. From its lush gardens to the lovingly restored farmhouse, every corner of the property offers a stunning backdrop!

Colin and Rachel’s wedding colors were classic blues and whites mixed with soft pinks that beautifully complemented the timeless charm of Smith Farm Gardens. Their ceremony took place in the sunken garden and began just as the last rainstorm of the day was leaving the area. It was a picture-perfect setting as Rachel and Colin exchanged heartfelt vows in front of their closest family and friends.

The reception was held under the sailcloth tent with twinkling bistro lights above the dancefloor and elegant floral centerpieces adorning each table. Guests enjoyed the relaxed charm of the venue as they celebrated the newlyweds with lively dancing well into the evening. Surrounded by the love of family and friends, Colin and Rachel’s wedding day was a true reflection of who they are as a couple. It was a celebration filled with joy, beauty, and unforgettable memories—one we were honored to capture!

THE LOVE STORY

When Rachel and Colin met, she was a second-grade teacher and he was a police officer in the same town. One afternoon, Colin was at Rachel’s school to run the D.A.R.E. program for the fifth graders. That day, he and Rachel (literally) bumped into each other in the hallway, and it was love at first sight!

Over the next few weeks, Colin continued to visit the school and always made it a point to stop by Rachel’s classroom to chat. He later asked Rachel out on a date and gave her his phone number. Their first date was perfect and effortless, and they talked non-stop for three hours!

Three years later, the pair took a day trip to Block Island. After arriving, they took a walk to a secluded beach where Colin got down on one knee and asked Rachel to marry him. She was completely surprised and said yes with much excitement! They spent the rest of the day on Block Island with their pup, Cooper, basking in the sweet joy of their engagement.

Congratulations Rachel and Colin! Wishing you many happy years ahead!
