A MODERN SUMMER WEDDING AT THE
INN AT LONGSHORE
I first spoke with Jocelyn and Chris last summer about their August wedding at the Inn at Longshore in Westport, Connecticut. After photographing their engagement session at Silver Sands Beach last fall, I 100% knew their wedding day was going to be an epic one! These two are madly in love, and it shows in every single one of their wedding photos!
Chris and Jocelyn planned a classic wedding celebration with modern touches at one of our favorite coastal venues in Connecticut. The Inn at Longshore will always be one of the best locations (in my opinion) for a timeless New England wedding on the water with incredible views and backdrops for portraits! Arturo and I especially enjoyed photographing the bride and groom’s first look on the back lawn of Longshore. It was both sweet and romantic, two things photographers always hope for during a first look!
With the likely threat of Hurricane Henri coming up to Connecticut the following day, the skies were mostly cloudy that evening, but that didn’t stop Arturo and me from creating some colorful, romantic, and light-filled portraits for Chris and Jocelyn. After finishing photos of the bride and groom, their wedding party joined us, and what a great group they were!
Just as the ceremony began, the clouds parted just a bit and some sun shined down on us. We had the perfect glow for the wonderful couple as they exchanged their vows in front of their closest family and friends. As Jocelyn and Chris walked back up the aisle, they were cheered on by each of their guests in attendance!
THE LOVE STORY
In 2018, Jocelyn went out to eat at a local restaurant with her friend, Kim. That evening they had also invited Kim's brother, JJ, to come to meet up with them. When he arrived, Jocelyn and Kim noticed he’d brought his friend, Chris, with him. As it turns out, Jocelyn and Chris weren’t formally introduced because Kim and JJ assumed they already knew each other!
As the night went on, Chris and Jocelyn began to chat. At that point, Jocelyn wasn’t looking to start a relationship and even tried signaling to Kim to help her end the conversation with Chris. Kim didn’t pick up on Jocelyn’s queues, so her small talk with Chris continued.
They began talking and found themselves sharing about birthdays, and that’s when they both realized they were born on the same day (of the exact same year!)! Jocelyn’s perspective about Chris immediately changed, and she saw it as a sign to share her phone number with him.
After a few days of texting and visits from Chris to the bar Jocelyn worked at, he asked her out on a date. She was still a bit reluctant and told him that she had to work, attend a wedding, and run a 5k that weekend. Without hesitation, Chris told her he’d sign up for the run if it meant they could spend some time together, and he did! Jocelyn realized then and there that it was finally time to give him a real chance. It’s a good thing she did because these two are a perfect match!

We snuck in a few minutes of newlywed portraits before sending Jocelyn and Chris to enjoy their cocktail hour. It’s always a treat for us to photograph our couples just after the ceremony to capture that “we’re-finally-married!” excitement they’re feeling at that point in the day!
