Sterling Library at Yale University Engagement Session in New Haven, CT | Andrea & Chris
Andrea and Chris had reached out to me late this winter looking to have engagement photos taken at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut as well as Walnut Beach in Milford, Connecticut (two of my all time favorite spots for engagement sessions!). With Yale’s stunning, timeless architecture and the spring blooms finally making an appearance, I knew Chris and Andrea’s engagement portraits were going to be beautiful. Their portraits in front of Sterling Memorial Library are some of my favorites! Chris is also an orthopedic surgeon at Yale New Haven Hospital, so having some engagement photos taken around the Yale campus was extra special for him and Andrea.
As luck would have it, there was a major student event going on that evening, so all of my favorite spots at Yale were jam-packed with people! To avoid too many Yale students walking around in the background of Chris and Andrea’s photos, Arturo and I took them one block over from where we usually start off. It was here that we stumbled upon the stunning courtyard in front of Sterling Memorial Library (one of my new favorite spots for photos at Yale!).
Chris and Andrea’s outfits were absolutely PERFECT for their engagement session! I always remind our couples that they’re investing in their photography, so why not dress up a bit more than you normally would?! Andrea wore a stunning navy blue floor-length gown with blush heels, while Chris looked dapper in his gray suit and navy blue tie. They did a wonderful job coordinating their outfits, without overly matching each other.
After finishing up at Yale, we drove to Walnut Beach to finish up their engagement session. The skies were cloudy, but the sun was peeking out just enough to give us some soft pastel colors in Chris and Andrea’s beach photos! After a quick outfit change for Andrea and Chris, we walked along the boardwalk all the way to the rock jetty to get the last few shots of the evening.
Andrea’s family lives in Dallas, so Chris figured it would be the perfect place for him to pop the question! Last spring they spent a few days in Texas with Andrea’s family. After dinner, he asked her to marry him, and presented her with a beautiful oval engagement ring! Despite being totally surprised, she excitedly said yes!
Chris and Andrea are getting married in Hawaii this weekend, on the beautiful island of Maui! Congratulations you two!
