Candlelight Farms Inn Engagement Session in New Milford, CT | Jessica & Nick
I loved that Nick and Jess chose to do their engagement session at the same venue where they’ll be getting married this summer! The natural light at Candlelight Farms Inn in New Milford, Connecticut is absolutely dreamy. The farm sits at the top of a mountain with views of the surrounding rolling hills, which certainly don’t disappoint!
A CANDLELIGHT FARMS INN ENGAGEMENT SESSION
From the moment my first phone call with Jessica began, I knew I was going to love working with her and Nick! They’re sweet as can be and totally in love (two of the very best qualities any of the couples we serve can have!). Nick and Jess brought along their adorable pup, Winnie the Pooh, who definitely won me over in the first 2 minutes of their engagement session!
Because Candlelight Farms in is located at the peak of a mountain, it certainly has glorious sunsets but is also subject to some serious winds! There were quite a few strong gusts of wind on the evening of Jessica and Nick’s engagement session but nevertheless, we had a pretty epic sunset. It created some of the most beautiful and romantic backlight for these two lovebirds!
THE PROPOSAL STORY
For Nick and Jessica’s first date, they took a hike together in Salisbury, Connecticut. Last summer on one of the hottest days of the year, they decided to return to that same hiking trail, which neither of them had been to since their very first date. Unfortunately Winnie overheated, so Jess and Nick decided to stop their hike early so they could figure out how to cool him off. A few days later, Nick asked Jessica to go on a picnic with him. They went to another beautiful location in Warren, Connecticut at Angevine Farm. Jess and Nick drove up to the top of the picnicking area and enjoyed their dinner together. After dinner, Nick proposed and asked Jessica to be his wife! Of course she said yes, and the two celebrated their extra romantic meal with some champagne!
These two are getting married this July at Candlelight Farms Inn, and we cannot wait to celebrate these sweet souls! Congratulations Jessica and Nick!!
When did you know you'd found "the one"?
Jessica: “When I was viewing his Match.com profile, I fell in love with his eyes and the fact that he was a chiropractor. I thought, ‘This guy and I are going to get along because he believes in alternative healing modalities.’ Then when we met he was singing and dancing in the car and his humor and child-like behavior reminded me of my grandma, Dora. It felt like I had known him forever. It was a weird, comforting feeling. A too-good-to-be-true feeling.”
Nick: “When we met in the parking lot on our first date. She was so nervous, and so was I. I remember her coming out of the car and all I saw was her beautiful blonde hair. We both took one glimpse of each other and got so nervous and giggly. I remember her turning back to her car real quick to gather herself. You know in high school when there was that one person you would always make eyes at and blush? Our first date felt like that and at 32 I hadn't thought I would ever feel like that again.”
What's one thing you love about your partner?
Jessica: “I cannot think of one thing; there are too many! To name a few, his eyes and the fact that I fit perfectly in his arms. His height. His amazing sense of humor and how laid back he is. How motivated he is. How he has such a huge heart. He shares his heart with his patients every day helping them along their healing processes. How he has a kid-like personality. He is always up for an adventure. I love that he loves to run and hike with me, and almost loves the outdoors as much as I do.”
Nick: “I love her smile, it lights me up. In saying that there is not one thing I love, because there so many things. I love that there will always be a eternal child in her like me. I love that we can talk about our ideas together and walk in the woods and share nature together. I love how understanding she is and she wants what’s best for me.”
Besides getting married, what is one thing you're looking forward to on your wedding day?
Jessica: “Watching Winnie the Pooh, our dog, walk down the aisle. Giving my mom and dad a kiss and squeeze before I get married. Staring at Nick while I walk towards him and holding hands while we exchange vows. Sitting back seeing everyone we love together enjoying themselves.”
Nick: “Seeing her for the first time in her wedding dress and receiving her at the alter from her father.”
What's one thing you're looking forward to about marriage?
Jessica: “Relaxing and enjoying our lives together.”
Nick: “Growing together and being able to appreciate the wonderful moments we have.”
