Summer Engagement Session at The Inn at Longshore in Westport, CT | Brittany & Ryan
A SUMMER ENGAGEMENT SESSION AT THE INN AT LONGSHORE
Arturo and I had the most wonderful evening with Brittany and Ryan during their engagement session at The Inn at Longshore in Westport, Connecticut. A beautiful couple paired with the most incredible summer sunset was a recipe for some photo magic!
After a pretty hot New England summer, we were all relieved to have more temperate weather on the day of Ryan and Brittany’s engagement session. These two are sweet as pie and had smiles on their faces during most of our time together! Arturo and I quickly connected with Brittany and Ryan when we all started chatting about the mutual enjoyment we have for some local restaurants and eateries. A happy couple who also knows how delicious a Crumbl cookie is? Definitely our kind of people!
As the four of us walked along the grounds of The Inn at Longshore, Ryan and Brittany shared all about the plans they have for their upcoming spring wedding. If their engagement session was any indication of what their wedding day is going to be like, we know it’s going to be a fantastic one!
THE PROPOSAL STORY
This past spring, Brittany and Ryan had plans to spend Easter Sunday at Ryan’s parents’ home. His mom had mentioned she wanted an updated family photo to hang up, so she asked everyone to dress up a bit for the Easter celebration as they would be “taking pictures at the beach that day”. Brittany spent the entire week leading up to that weekend searching high and low for the perfect coordinating outfits for her and Ryan to wear. Just in time, she found a cute blue dress for herself and a 1/4 zip in a similar blue color for Ryan!
After getting ready, Ryan and Brittany headed out to his parents’ house. While they were on their way, Ryan’s mom called and said the beach looked a little windy for photos that day. She asked if Brittany and Ryan could stop at another place nearby to see if it would make a good spot for photos. As it turns out, Ryan had scoped this little downtown coffee shop out before, as it had been beautifully decorated with spring flowers! While all of this was happening, Brittany had absolutely no suspicion that a proposal would be coming her way.
When they arrived at the coffee shop, Brittany didn’t want to get out of the car since she could clearly see the flower display from there. Ryan was insistent that they get a better look at the flowers, and suggested they grab some coffees while they were there. Brittany agreed, hopped out of the car, and took a photo of Ryan in front of the floral display to see how it would look for family photos later. He then asked her to come stand next to him so they could take a selfie together. However, instead of snapping a photo, Ryan got down on one knee and asked Brittany to marry him! He was holding the most beautiful ring she’d ever seen, with a big smile across his face. Brittany was in disbelief and replied with a hilarious, “Shut up,” before officially saying yes!
These two are getting married in April here at The Inn at Longshore, and their spring wedding day is one we’re certainly looking forward to next year! Congratulations Brittany and Ryan!
When did you know you'd found "the one"?
Brittany: “It may sound cheesy, but I knew Ryan was the one very early on. On our first date, we sat at the bar at Tigin's for 4 hours and it honestly felt like 30 minutes (I still feel bad that he got a $60 parking ticket that night, but he says it was definitely worth it). I don't know that it was an exact moment but rather a collection of moments but I knew from the beginning this was going to be something that was going to last forever. Whether it was going to the diner or watching ‘The Haunting of Hill House’ on my tiny couch in my studio apartment, I immediately felt at home when I was with Ry.”
Ryan: “For me It was early on. I would say after Brittany and I attended the Indeed holiday party together in the first winter of our relationship, I knew that she was the one. We had an amazing night, and I can tell we had real chemistry.”
What's one thing you love about your partner?
Brittany: “His thoughtfulness. Whether it’s seeing a Funko POP! online that he knows someone will love and immediately ordering it, or remembering that I mentioned something random and surprising me at home with it.”
Ryan: “I absolutely love Brittany’s kindness.”
Besides getting married, what is one thing you're looking forward to on your wedding day?
Brittany: “Celebrating with all of our family and friends! I can't wait to have everyone we love in one room together.”
Ryan: “I’m looking forward to celebrating with our friends and family. It will be fun to eat, drink, and dance with all the people who are closest to us.”
What's one thing you're looking forward to about marriage?
Brittany: “Starting a family together. We are so close with both of our families and I'm looking forward to hopefully growing ours! I know Ryan will be the best dad (he already is to our cat, Benny), and I can't wait to see what that chapter of life looks like for us!”
Ryan: “Starting a family with Brittany. I think she will make a great mother.”
