Sasco Beach Engagement Session in Fairfield, CT | Emily & Chip
A SASCO BEACH ENGAGEMENT SESSION
Emily and Chip’s engagement session at Sasco Beach in Fairfield, Connecticut was the definition of perfection! The two have spent many weekends at this beach over the course of their relationship, and I love that they chose this sentimental spot to have their engagement photos taken! Emily also spent many of her summer days here when she was growing up, which made their session that much sweeter.
That day we had some beautiful fall weather and dreamy golden hour light to go with it! The soft glow of the evening sunlight added just the right touch of romance to Chip and Emily’s engagement portraits. As we got closer to the end of their session, these two climbed their way up a small rock wall and onto the jetty. The soft, pastel colors of the sunset sky made for a beautiful backdrop to the last few photos of their engagement session!
THE PROPOSAL STORY
Emily is a very observant person, but she was 100% surprised by Chip’s proposal! The two had discussed getting engaged, but it always seemed so far off. Emily’s mom kept telling her that Chip had not asked for her parents’ permission, though he actually had months prior!
East Dennis, Cape Code is a special vacation spot for Emily’s family, and somewhere they’ve been visiting since she was seven years old. As it turns out, Chip also has a close family connection to Cape Cod and grew up vacationing in Eastham, not far from where Emily’s family would vacation. Last August, Emily’s family was planning on having a party at her grandparents’ house in Cape Cod since her cousins were in town (little did she know that their visit was part of the ruse!).
Before the party, everyone had planned to go to the beach for drinks. Emily’s family decided to take Chip to Howes Street Beach since Howe is his last name. Her parents were the ones who had suggested going to the beach, so Emily still had no clue a proposal was about to happen!
Chip and Emily left for the beach with her parents and sister to take in sunset and cocktails before dinner. As the two walked down the beach together, Emily turned around thinking her mom was taking a picture of them. Before she could pose for a photo op, Chip grabbed both of her hands and got down on one knee. It was in that moment she immediately realized what was happening! Chip asked her to marry him, and despite being in total shock, she said YES!!
These two are getting married next summer at Brooklawn Country Club in Fairfield, Connecticut, and we know they’re going to have a fantastic wedding celebration! Congratulations Emily and Chip!!
When did you know you'd found "the one"?
Emily: “I knew pretty early on that Chip was the one. I could tell right away that it was a different relationship. Before our first date, our mutual best friends kept telling us we needed to date and that we would be perfect for each other. Brigid and John were not wrong. On the first date I remember thinking to myself, ‘Wow this could be it, this could be the one.’ On our first date I fell hard, but when I knew he was the one when he began to feel like home.”
Chip: “I knew after the first date that I really wanted to see Emily again. After the second, I saw that we were very compatible and that I was really growing fond of Emily. But after the third date, I had a feeling which I had not experienced before and that was of finding my partner. Someone I could spend everyday with and talk with endlessly. Someone who I cared for deeply.”
What's one thing you love about your partner?
Emily: “Wow, there are so many things. I love his work ethic and drive. He is the smartest and hardest working person I know. I also love his laugh. His laugh is so infectious and he has the ability to turn every situation into something fun. I also love his ability to make me a better person. He inspires me and challenges me everyday to be better.”
Chip: “I love how boundlessly caring Emily is for those she loves. The depth of her compassion is incredibly impressive. Her drive and competitive spirit are inspiring. I also love how carefree she can be and the joy of her excitement in the simple things.”
Besides getting married, what is one thing you're looking forward to on your wedding day?
Emily: “I am so excited to have all of our loved ones together in once place to celebrate.”
Chip: “To party with all of our loved ones and celebrate the gift of our lives.”
What's one thing you're looking forward to about marriage?
Emily: “Chip wearing a wedding ring. Kidding, sort of but I am excited to do life together as the Howe's.”
Chip: “Getting to spend the rest of our lives together!”
