A SPRING WAVENY PARK ENGAGEMENT SESSION

Cirsten and David’s spring engagement session at Waveny Park in New Canaan, Connecticut took place on a hot and humid afternoon. Despite unseasonably warm June day, these two were rockstars in front of my camera! They have an undeniable chemistry that was an absolute joy to photograph. We walked around the grounds of Waveny House, chatting about their wedding plans, their proposal story, and more.

This park is always one of my favorite spots to photograph our couples because it’s incredibly versatile! Waveny Park is one of the few parks that I can recommend as an engagement session location all year long (even during the winter!). No matter the season, there’s no shortage of portrait spots within the park to help me create soft, romantic engagement photos for our couples.

THE PROPOSAL STORY

A few months ago, Cirsten won an Instagram giveaway from a local photographer for a portrait session. As she was planning the details of their session (date, location, etc), David was doing a bit of planning of his own. Little did Cirsten know that he was working with the photographer to plan a perfect day to pop the question during their session!

Cirsten had chosen to have their session take place in Boston, so that day they took some pictures in the public garden before making their way to Acorn Street. The photographer recommended they try a pose where David pick Cirsten up from behind. He faked that he couldn’t lift her up, and so the photographer told them to try again. When she said, “Okay, go!”, David never came up behind Cirsten to lift her. She turned around to ask him why he wasn’t cooperating, but instead found him kneeling down on one knee getting ready to propose!

These two are getting married next August at The Barns at Wesleyan Hills in Middletown, Connecticut, and I cannot wait for their wedding day! Congratulations Cirsten and David!

When did you know you'd found "the one"?

Cirsten: “I lost my Dad in March of 2019. I called David at 7:30am (he was living in New York at the time) and told him the devastating news. He dropped everything and traveled 4 hours to spend the week with my family and me. He was by my side every waking moment that week. He was there for me while I struggled with grief and he still is there for me on my bad days. I’m not sure if I would have gotten through that time without him.”

David: “I knew I found ‘the one’ when Cirsten was always supportive of my choices and wanted me to live my life. She always wants me to be happy and enjoys when I am excited about things that don’t involve her.”

What's one thing you love about your partner?

Cirsten: “David is such a hard worker. He truly gives his all in everything he does. I love how dedicated he is to his work, sports, life, and most importantly our relationship. David is such a fun person to spend time with, and I love that I can always count on him to say and do the right things to turn a hard day around.”

David: “One thing I love about Cirsten is our mutual interests. We always seem to be on the same page and enjoy doing the same activities.”

Besides getting married, what is one thing you're looking forward to on your wedding day?

Cirsten: “I cannot wait to celebrate our love with our family and friends! Our engagement party was so much fun and that was only like 10% of the guest list! Bring on the party!”

David: “I am looking forward to having both families in the same place for a night of partying. We have not been able to do that yet and it will be a lot of fun.”

What's one thing you're looking forward to about marriage?

Cirsten: “Taking our relationship to the next level. I can’t wait to change my last name and officially become part of the Palmer Family!”

David: “I think the most exciting thing about marriage is being able to never have to make choices alone and always having a travel partner.”
