The Barns at Wesleyan Hills Wedding in Middletown, CT | Cirsten & David
A SUMMER WEDDING AT THE BARNS AT WESLEYAN HILLS
Cirsten and David were married on a warm, overcast summer day at The Barns at Wesleyan Hills in Middletown, Connecticut. Early on, I had connected with Cirsten on Instagram soon after she and Dave booked us for their August wedding. For the past year and a half, I’ve seen their excitement grow and grow the closer we got to their incredible wedding day. These sweethearts are a perfect match, and we’re excited to have been their wedding photographers!
As Arturo and I spent time with Dave and Cirsten early that afternoon while they got ready for the day’s festivities, we could easily feel the anticipation they had for seeing each other at the first look. We’ve photographed several weddings at The Barn at Wesleyan Hills, but thanks to the weather holding out just enough, Cirsten and David’s wedding day was the first one that allowed us to utilize more of the beautiful grounds! Their first look took place in front of the willow trees and was sweet and emotional, filled with smiles and tears of joy.
Guests began to arrive, and dark clouds started rolling in while thunder could be heard in the distance. Everything paused long enough for Cirsten to walk down the aisle and lock eyes with an emotional David. As the soon-to-be Mr. & Mrs. were sharing the personal vows they’d written, it began to drizzle for a moment or two before stopping again. Just as the officiant began to finish the ceremony, Mother Nature decided it would be the perfect time for a downpour. After officially being announced as husband and wife, Dave and Cirsten shared their first kiss, then turned to their family and friends with smiles beaming across their faces!
Lucky for us, heavy summer rainstorms in New England never seem to last long. Later on that evening, the skies cleared enough for us to head back outside for the last few newlywed portraits of the day. From their engagement session to their wedding day, one thing I’ve enjoyed about working with Cirsten and David is the fact that they’re up for pretty much anything!
THE LOVE STORY
David and Cirsten met at the beginning of their freshman year while they attended the University of New Haven. Cirsten and her roommates were trying to set up the cable in their dorm room but were having trouble doing so. They decided to play “Nose Goes”, and whoever lost had to ask the next guy who walked down the hall to help them.
Cirsten lost the game, and the next thing she knew, she was chasing Dave down the hallway. Though he was a complete stranger, she tapped him on the shoulder and asked if he could come and help her and the ladies set up their cable. Of course, he agreed, and the rest is history!
Congratulations Cirsten and David! Wishing you many happy years to come!
Cirsten was a stunning bride!
Look at that smile!
How sweet are these two?!
Cirsten and David had a wonderful group of people surrounding them that day!
It started raining just as the ceremony was about to end, but that didn’t steal the smiles and joy from the newlyweds’ faces!
