The Shore and Country Club Engagement Session in Norwalk, CT | Julia & Taylor
We always love when our couples choose to have their engagement sessions photographed somewhere with a special meaning to them. Julia mentioned to me that she hoped to have their engagement photos taken at The Shore and Country Club in Norwalk, Connecticut because it was somewhere she went as she was growing up. After speaking to the manager of the club, we got the okay to photograph their session there. It was also the perfect spot for their engagement photos since Taylor and Julia love the beach so much!
These two live in Virginia and braved the cold New England temperatures for their sweet engagement session. Taylor and Julia were didn’t stop smiling, laughing, and cuddling throughout the entirety of their portrait time. Their joy is absolutely contagious!! Arturo and I had so much fun with Julia and Taylor, and cannot wait to spend more time with them on their wedding day!
In 2015, Julia went to Florence, Italy with her family after studying abroad and fell in love with the restaurant called Aqua Al Due, famous for their Florentine cuisine. Since Taylor and Julia live in Arlington, Virginia, Julia was especially excited that a sister restaurant to the one in Florence was located Washington, D.C. Just days before his 27th birthday, Taylor made a reservation at the restaurant knowing that Julia had added it to their list of places to go. The two had always talked about getting married in the six years they’ve been together, and even looked at rings, but Julia had no idea that would be the night Taylor proposed! That evening as she was getting ready for dinner, Taylor asked Julia about her outfit from the other room. She walked over to the kitchen to show Taylor what she was wearing. Much to Julia’s surprise, there he was, down on one knee!! Taylor made a beautiful speech, much of which Julia couldn't even hear because she was so overwhelmed with happiness! The proposal was followed by their romantic dinner in Washington, D.C. Julia says her favorite part of the evening was the fact that they spent about three hours being the only ones in the world who knew about their engagement before calling friends and family to share the exciting news!
Taylor and Julia are celebrating their wedding at The Waterview in Monroe, Connecticut this October, and we couldn’t be more excited for them! Congratulations you two!
When did you know you'd found "the one"?
Julia: “I knew that Taylor was the one when I realized he understood me more than anyone else in the world. We just clicked the day we met. I knew we would be together forever, when we would leave college for just short week long breaks and I missed him more than I thought I could.”
Taylor: “I knew that Julia was the one from the beginning. I remember the day we met on Tuesday, September 18, 2012 and I remember feeling as though I had never connected more with a person. She was kind, genuine, compassionate, funny, and I made it a priority to get to know her better. As time went on, I couldn't imagine my life without her. I feel as though she is a part of me.”
What's one thing you love about your partner?
Julia: “I love how kind Taylor is and how he always makes the hard days better. He always has amazing perspectives on things and situations. He is easy going and and never fails to calm me down and put me at ease. I have also never seen a stronger discipline and work ethic in a person, when he puts his mind to things he does it.”
Taylor: “It isn't easy to pick one, but I would have to say that I love how caring and compassionate she is. Whenever I feel frustrated or stressed, Julia is there to listen to me and help me move forward. She has faith in me and is always so supportive of my goals and aspirations in life. She also displays this with friends and family, and couldn't be a nicer person.”
Besides getting married, what is one thing you're looking forward to on your wedding day?
Julia: “Besides getting married I look forward to partying with our friends and family! I can’t wait to celebrate and declare our love with the most important people in our lives all around us.”
Taylor: “I cannot wait to celebrate with friends and family. I am excited to share this important day and our love for each other with those that we love and hold close to our hearts.”
What's one thing you're looking forward to about marriage?
Julia: “I look forward to having a family, and facing all life has to offer with an amazing partner.”
