West Village Engagement Session in New York, NY | Michelle & John
A WEST VILLAGE ENGAGEMENT SESSION
We met Michelle and John for the first time at their New York City engagement session in the West Village. After speaking with Michelle on the phone about their wedding day just a few weeks ago, it was a treat to finally meet her and John! I loved that they chose this location in Greenwich Village because of the special meaning it had to them… it was the place where they shared their first apartment together!
THE PROPOSAL STORY
Last November, John and Michelle were supposed to enjoy a long weekend getaway to upstate New York. Michelle had packed a suitcase full of hiking clothes, sweaters, and more to enjoy the autumn weather. When John got home late from work and saw her suitcase, he panicked, told Michelle there had been a change of plans, and said that she should pack for warm weather instead because they were heading to Miami! John had never surprised Michelle like that before so she thought something may be up. However, after spending their first day in Florida, he was acting like his normal self so Michelle told herself that a proposal probably wasn’t going to happen. The next night John asked Michelle if she wanted to grab a bite at the first hotel they’d ever stayed at in Miami together which they really loved. They had a drink at the outdoor bar then decided to walk onto the beach since they'd been at the pool all day. As Michelle was walking on the beach path, she noticed John wasn’t at her side. She turned back and there he was on one knee asking her to marry him!! Even though Michelle had suspected the possibility of a proposal at the beginning of their trip, somehow she still hadn't seen it coming at all! John and Michelle flew back home to New York City the next day, planning to meet her sister and her fiancé at a bar to have a celebratory drink. When they walked in all of Michelle’s closest friends and both of their families were there, which totally surprised her!
These two are getting married in May at one of our favorite Westchester wedding venues, Whitby Castle in Rye, New York! Arturo and I cannot wait to see their day come to life! Congratulations Michelle and John!!
When did you know you'd found "the one"?
Michelle: “I knew I'd found the one when I realized how similar and different we were in the best ways. We both valued the same things and wanted the same out of life, but we also challenged each other and had different personality traits and strengths.”
John: “I knew I'd found the one after spending the summer working with her. We got along so well and there seemed to be a natural connection.”
What's one thing you love about your partner?
Michelle: “I love how self-motivated he is. He's always working towards a new goal and always pushes himself personally and professionally.”
John: “I love her witty personality. She is so fun to be around and can keep things light and funny.”
Besides getting married, what is one thing you're looking forward to on your wedding day?
Michelle: “Celebrating with everyone we love. Dancing will be fun too!”
John: “Celebrating with friends and family.”
What's one thing you're looking forward to about marriage?
Michelle: “I'm looking forward to seeing how our lives unfold and how everything turns out compared to what we've imagined.”
