A WINVIAN FARM WEDDING

Mia and Shengtong’s wedding at Winvian Farm in Morris, Connecticut was an absolute dream! At the end of July, Mia reached out to inquire with us about photographing the elopement they were planning. Due to restrictions imposed by the pandemic, the two couldn’t have the big wedding they’d been dreaming of. However, Shengtong and Mia realized that what was most important to them was the love they share, and they knew an intimate elopement would leave them with amazing memories of their day!

We started our afternoon with the bride and groom at the Library Cottage on the Winvian property. Just as we’d begun photographing Mia’s bridal details, Arturo asked Shengtong how he was feeling about the day ahead. He immediately replied, “I’m really excited,” with a wonderful smile on his face. After getting dressed, Mia and Shengtong shared a first look in the field behind their cottage, which turned out to be some of the sweetest moments of the day!

We made our way around the grounds of Winvian Farm for portraits before heading out to the large birch tree where their ceremony would take place. Shengtong and Mia exchanged heartfelt vows before being pronounced husband and wife and sharing their first kiss! The joy and excitement that radiated off of them were absolutely contagious!

After a quick outfit change, we finished our time with Mia and Shengtong with some newlywed portraits as the sun shined through the large pine trees of the farm. Later that evening, they enjoyed cocktails and romantic dinner at Winvian’s five-star restaurant!

THE LOVE STORY

Shengtong and Mia met in college while they were studying in Beijing, China. Their first encounter was in a late-night student club meeting on a chilly winter evening. Mia didn’t want to go to the meeting that night, but luckily fate stepped in and she did! Shengtong noticed her immediately and the two started to chat. They clicked instantly, and have now been together for the last seven years!

After graduating from college in Beijing, Mia and Shengtong both moved to Boston to pursue their master’s degrees. After graduation, their relationship turned to a long-distance one as Shengtong worked in New York City and Mia in Connecticut. Soon after, Mia returned to China for a full year while Shengtong remained in the United States. It may have been difficult to be on opposite sides of the world from each other for that long, but they made it through with the mutual support and care Shengtong and Mia share!

After a year, they were reunited and Shengtong later proposed in January 2019! The two were enjoying a romantic meal at a French restaurant in a coastal town in China. No detail was spared with red roses, a brilliant diamond ring, and a self-made album that showcased many of the photos Shengtong and Mia have taken together over the years!

Congratulations Mia and Shengtong! It was a treat to be a part of your day, and we’re honored to be the ones to have documented it. Cheers to many beautiful years ahead!
