Yale University Anniversary Session in New Haven, CT | Shannon & Jamie
Even if you've only been following me on Instagram or Facebook for a short while, or reading my blog for a short time, you may know how much I love photographing romantic portrait sessions at the Yale University campus in New Haven, Connecticut! I recently photographed Shannon and Jamie for a sweet anniversary session at Yale, and it just may be one of my favorites to date, rainy day and all!
These two share such a beautiful chemistry and sweet love story. They've known each other since high school and started dating in college. Throughout their anniversary session, Jamie would gently kiss Shannon on the forehead or softly take her hand as we walked around the university campus. He made sure that she was covered with the umbrella as we walked from place to place and even held her dress to avoid any puddles! Let me tell you, it was the sweetest thing!
Earlier that day we had some beautiful weather, considering it was late February; temperatures were in the 50° range and we had partly blue skies with the sun peeking through the scattered clouds. All week I had been watching the weather because I knew rain had been in the forecast, but it seemed the day of Shannon and Jamie's session was going to be clear! Of course, you can never truly count on New England weather to be consistent and it did, in fact, start raining that afternoon shortly before we were scheduled to begin. Luckily Shannon and Jamie were both up for posing for me in the rain, which allowed us to get so many fantastic images! Yale has plenty of beautiful archways and courtyards with coverings, so between the shelter from the rain and these fabulous Totes clear bubble umbrellas (which I highly recommend to my engaged couples to purchase for themselves and their bridal party in the event of a rainy day wedding!), the rain didn't dampen the spirits of these two!

I sure do love the classic, timeless look of black and white portraits, especially when the Yale campus is the backdrop!
How stunning are are these florals?! Bringing along a fresh bouquet added such a wonderful editorial vibe to their session!
