A COASTAL SUMMER WEDDING AT GUILFORD YACHT CLUB

Andrew and Jaclyn’s wedding at Guilford Yacht Club may have taken place on one of the hottest days of the summer, but my oh my was it a dreamy celebration! Guilford, Connecticut is a historic little New England town nestled on the coast, and it’s always such a treat to work in the area. From their engagement session at Southport Harbor to their wedding day at Guilford Yacht Club, Jaclyn and Drew are always a sweet pair to photograph! They’re a beautiful couple inside and out, and share nothing but pure love and joy when they’re together.

Arturo and I began our day with the bride and groom as they got ready for the festivities ahead. We love it when our couples opt to get ready for their wedding day at Guilford Yacht Club because there is always incredible light for photographing this part of the day (if you’ve followed me for a while, you know how much I stress the importance of choosing a location with plenty of natural light!). Jaclyn’s bridal style was sophisticated and elegant, and her Jenny Yoo wedding gown was absolutely incredible! Andrew’s style was equally timeless; he looked dapper as ever in his classic tuxedo.

After sharing a beautiful first look on the back lawn of Guilford Yacht Club, we continued with portraits of the bride and groom. The sun was beating down on us, but luckily a few clouds that passed by would save us from a tiny bit of the heat every few minutes. Despite the humid weather, Jaclyn and Drew were all smiles during their portrait time!

Andrew and Jaclyn were married later that afternoon in a beautiful wedding ceremony led by one of their close family members. What better way to add an extra level of personalization to their day than to have someone who knows them so well be the one to marry them?! After exchanging rings, Drew and Jaclyn were pronounced husband and wife. They shared their first kiss as family and friends clapped and cheered around them!

Arturo and I always love when our couples set aside a few minutes after the ceremony for additional wedding portraits. It’s the perfect time to capture those “just married” emotions that our couples are feeling! Smiles beamed from ear to ear on both the bride and groom’s faces as they snuggled up together for some newlywed photos before heading to their cocktail hour. Later that evening the sun popped out from behind the clouds, giving us the most romantic summer glow (one of my favorite things about photographing weddings at Guilford Yacht Club!). We snuck Jaclyn and Andrew outside one last time for just a few more newlywed portraits as their guests enjoyed dinner.

Drew and Jaclyn were celebrated late into the night by their loved ones with fantastic music and plenty of dancing. It was certainly a day to remember, and one Arturo and I will always hold close to our hearts!

THE LOVE STORY

Andrew and Jaclyn met at Babson College a few years back. Jaclyn was the Director of Community Standards, which literally meant it was her job to discipline any troublemakers. Andrew was a Rugby player and a member of one of the fraternities, which meant he may or may not have been the cause of some of the trouble on campus!

One semester, Jaclyn met her friend Marcos, who also happened to be Drew’s best friend. After knowing Jaclyn for only a few days, Marcos said to her, “Wait until my friend, Drew, gets back from Italy. You’re going to love him!” The two eventually met, but they kept things strictly business; Jaclyn fired Andrew from his RA job, and he tried to sell her every business idea he had.

However, once Drew graduated, he and Jaclyn kept in touch. As it turns out, Marcos was an incredible matchmaker! Six years later, Jaclyn and Andrew had their first date in South Boston. What really sealed the deal on their relationship was when Andrew met Jaclyn’s adorable pup, Shea, and they’ve been together ever since!

Congratulations Jaclyn and Drew! Wishing you many beautiful years ahead filled with love and laughter!

From their engagement session to their wedding day, these two have been so much fun to photograph. You can’t help but feel their joy and excitement!

There’s nothing quite like that pure newlywed joy!

The clouds rolled in that evening and we weren’t sure if we’d have a true sunset or not, but Mother Nature didn’t disappoint us! Look at that glow!
