AN INTIMATE WEDDING AT THE FLORENCE GRISWOLD MUSEUM
Hayley and Mark’s intimate summer wedding at the Florence Griswold Museum in Old Lyme, Connecticut had all of the perfect components of a wonderful celebration. Colorful florals, a small (yet meaningful) guest list, plenty of personal details, and to top it all off, a fantastic, laid-back couple made this day special in so many ways. New England had just come off a severe heatwave, and we couldn’t have asked for better weather on the day Mark and Hayley got married!
After sharing their first look on the front lawn of the Florence Griswold Museum, we headed towards the back of the museum’s property with the bride and groom to an area that overlooks a small river. The late afternoon light shined through the trees as we photographed Hayley and Mark before their guests arrived. Mother Nature was certainly giving us some romantic light to work with that day!
Mark and Hayley were married in a sweet and heartfelt ceremony as 16 of their closest family members and friends watched them become one. Hayley’s brother’s dog, Chingu, even dressed in his best tux to serve as their ring bearer! After sharing their first kiss, the newlyweds were cheered on by their guests as they took their first steps back up the aisle together as husband and wife. Smiles beamed across Hayley and Mark’s faces, and their joy was simply contagious!
We snuck the two away from their cocktail hour for just a few minutes to capture the last wedding photos of them during golden hour. The grounds and gardens of the Florence Griswold Museum are absolutely spectacular, ensuring there was no shortage of locations for some newlywed portraits. The golden hour light that evening was just divine, and illuminated the new Mr. & Mrs. just right in their photos!
Rather than having a traditional wedding reception, Mark and Hayley opted to hire a private chef to give their guests a true dining experience. No detail was spared, from lush floral centerpieces to elegant place card settings, blue goblet water glasses, and more. Arturo and I have seen many more colorful wedding florals in our 2022 season, and we are here for it! It’s been so refreshing to see bright, vibrant florals in more of our couples' floral designs this year. When we saw the stunning dinner table adorned with plenty of color and flowers, we couldn’t take our eyes off of it!
