Colorful Spring Glastonbury Boathouse Wedding | Brenna & Jake
THE GLASTONBURY BOATHOUSE WEDDING
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: waterfront weddings are some of my all-time favorites! Brenna and Jake’s colorful spring wedding day took place at The Glastonbury Boathouse in Glastonbury, Connecticut. After planning an entire wedding for last May and then having to reschedule twice due to the pandemic, these two finally had the most perfect day for their I Do’s.
We hung out with these sweethearts for the first time at their Hammonasset Beach engagement session in Madison, Connecticut last year. We clicked with them right off the bat, and they were up to do whatever I asked, so I knew their wedding day portraits were going to be amazing!!
Their classic wedding color palette primarily featured sage greens and golds, with plenty of bright and colorful floral accents. I always tell my couples not to be afraid to add pops of color into their wedding day, and Jake and Brenna did just that!! On top of it all, Brenna is a wildly talented calligrapher and she did all of her own wedding calligraphy for the signage, escort cards, and other decor. THE LOVE STORY
Jake and Brenna met when they were both students at Marist College in Poughkeepsie, New York. Their mutual friend groups spent plenty of time together, which meant Brenna and Jake eventually became friends as well! For a long time, their relationship was only a friendship, however, towards the end of their sophomore year, the two truly realized how much they enjoyed spending time together.
In the first semester of their junior year, Brenna studied abroad in London, England which is when she and Jake started to grow closer. They would share Skype calls or chat on instant messenger, and during that time is when their friendship began to slowly blossom into something more. When Brenna returned to the states, Jake definitely knew he had romantic feelings for her and would find any excuse to hang out with her!
The first time they hung out together without their other friends, Jake and Brenna watched Love Actually since she’d just spent the holidays in London. The two began spending more and more time together, and soon enough their friendship turned into a romance! They began dating, and things became official between Brenna and Jake when she invited him to be her plus one at her friend’s wedding where he spent the entire Memorial Day Weekend with Brenna and her family.
After their college graduation, Jake and Brenna dated long-distance for over two years and finally moved into their first apartment together in September 2015. A bit of time passed by and Jake started a new job. With that, proposing to Brenna was a top priority on his list. In the fall of 2018, the two took a trip to Kennebunkport, Maine where Jake surprised Brenna and popped the question just as the sun was setting!
Congratulations Brenna and Jake! It was an honor to be a part of your wedding day. Cheers to many happy years ahead!
