A FALL WEDDING AT THE INN AT LONGSHORE

Dorit and Sam were married on a beautiful fall day at The Inn at Longshore in Westport, Connecticut. Though their wedding took place in mid-October, it was close to 80 degrees that day! The Inn at Longshore is a stunning wedding venue with views of the Saugatuck River and Long Island Sound, so luckily we were able to catch a coastal breeze every few minutes. Sam and Dorit booked with us last spring, and it was a wedding we had been looking forward to photographing all year!

Arturo and I first photographed Dorit and Sam last fall at their Waveny Park engagement session in New Canaan, Connecticut. After getting the chance to spend some time with them and hearing all about their wedding plans, we knew their day was going to be one for the books! Beautiful details, the most magnificent golden hour, and an incredible couple were all ingredients for a spectacular celebration.

We began our day with Dorit and her girls as they got ready for the day ahead. Dorit’s bridal style was classic and timeless with just a few modern touches added in. She had the most lovely group of ladies around her as she got dressed and ready for her first look with Sam.

One of the many things I enjoy about photographing weddings at The Inn at Longshore is the abundance of portrait locations on the property! Instead of doing their first look along the water, where the sun was still warm and the light harsh at that point in the afternoon, we opted for a shaded grassy area just to the side of the golf course. Leaves had begun to fall off of the nearby oak trees, which really gave their photos that autumn feel.

As Dorit approached Sam and tapped him on the shoulder, he turned around to see his bride. They both had smiles beaming across their faces as they embraced and took in those special moments together. We moved on to photographing portraits of the bride and groom, and I just love that they were up for almost anything! The camera really loves these two!

Sam and Dorit’s wedding ceremony took place on the back lawn of The Inn at Longshore during the start of golden hour. At this time of day, the sun is low in the sky, making the light softer and so romantic. After exchanging their vows and rings, Sam broke the glass and the newlyweds shared their first kiss as husband and wife!

We always love when our couples are up to take some newlywed portraits, and Dorit and Sam were all about it! We photographed them along the water as the two soaked in the fact that they were finally married after more than a year and a half of wedding planning.

The new Mr. & Mrs. were celebrated that evening with fantastic music, dancing, and some of the most heartfelt speeches we’ve heard in a while. Dorit and Sam are a perfect match and had the wonderful day that they both deserved!

THE LOVE STORY

Sam and Dorit met on a ski trip in 2014. Sam got a concussion after falling and needed to be brought to the infirmary. Dorit was riding down the mountain with a mutual friend when they found out Sam had fallen and had to bring him to get medical attention. The doctor's orders were to keep Sam awake as long as they could. That evening, Dorit and Sam spent the majority of the night talking and getting to know each other. After a few dates, the two decided to become official!

They’re an incredible team, and it’s been an amazing journey to document this season of their lives together. Congratulations Dorit and Sam! Cheers to much love and happiness in the years to come!
