Cranbury Park Engagement Session in Norwalk, CT | Lindsay & Kyle

A CRANBURY PARK ENGAGEMENT SESSION

Lindsay and Kyle’s engagement session at Cranbury Park in Norwalk, Connecticut was an autumn dream! The air was crisp and cool, and the sun beautifully illuminated the fall foliage on the surrounding trees. A few days before their session, Lindsay told me she’d been browsing our blog and wanted to set up a styled engagement session like she’d seen one of our past couples do. Lindsay mentioned how much she enjoyed picnics and styling a cozy vibe for them, so I knew she was going to have something good up her sleeve!

Sure enough, when we arrived at Cranbury Park for their engagement session, Kyle and Lindsay pulled out a few tote bags filled with pillows, blankets, florals, and some of their favorite goodies from Trader Joe’s. They quickly set up their picnic and snuggled up together, clinking their champagne glasses with smiles beaming from ear to ear. I’m so happy Kyle and Lindsay chose to style their session to add even more personalization to their engagement photos!

These two were so much fun to photograph and have undeniable chemistry. They laughed, cuddled, and giggled together as I snapped their engagement portraits that evening. Lindsay and Kyle’s joy 100% radiates through their photos, and I couldn’t help but smile along with them as I edited the images below! As we moved from location to location, we chatted all about their wedding plans for the celebration they’re having next summer. After photographing their engagement session, I know their wedding day is going to be absolutely wonderful!

THE PROPOSAL STORY

Golf has been a large element in Kyle and Lindsay’s relationship from the very beginning. Kyle works in the golf industry and Lindsay’s dad is a golf pro at Silvermine Golf Club. Lindsay is also the coach of the girls’ golf team at the high school where she teaches Environmental Science.

Kyle knew he wanted to incorporate golf into his marriage proposal to Lindsay, and Silvermine Golf Club was the perfect spot to pop the question. The 16th hole at Silvermine is a secluded area and has a fantastic view of the Long Island sound; it also happens to be Lindsay’s favorite location on the entire golf course. When they arrived at the 16th hole, Lindsay hit her tee shot first; just as she made her swing, Kyle got down on one knee and asked her to marry him!

These two are getting married next summer at Shore & Country Club, and we cannot wait to see their day come to life! Congratulations Lindsay and Kyle!

When did you know you'd found "the one"?

Lindsay: “Being with Kyle for over 9 years, I don’t think there is any single moment that was a crystallization moment for me; instead it’s been more about how I see him interact with our family and friends. Loyalty is a very important trait to me and Kyle is one of the most loyal people I know. The interest, love, and commitment he shows to me, his friends, and his family were a few of the first things I noticed about him. To watch him interact with my family and friends in the same way he does his own was one of the things that confirmed I’d want him in my life and by my side forever. To show the people who are most important in my life the same level of love and loyalty means the world to me.”

Kyle: “There are so many reasons why I fell in love with Lindsay and why I know that she is the person that I want to spend the rest of my life with, but one of the most important reasons for me is that we laugh a lot together. Life, and planning a wedding, can be stressful, but we have found ways to laugh and I think that is really important in a relationship. I think that there are a lot of times where it can seem like things are too stressful or too overwhelming, but we have always done a good job of keeping each other centered. I haven't spent time around another person who makes me feel happier than I have with Lindsay.”

What's one thing you love about your partner?

Lindsay: “I tend to overcommit and overextend myself. I love doing things and when I’m not in constant motion I feel unproductive and guilty. As an introvert, Kyle values his alone time and solitude and I benefit from his reminders that it’s okay to do nothing and schedule time to do nothing for each other. I appreciate his ‘why-don’t-we-just-chill’ attitude and approach to life and its contrast to my own personality. I think we balance each other really well!”

Kyle: “One of the things that I love most about Lindsay is her constant push and drive to try new things and to try new experiences. This is something that is really difficult for me to do and to even conceptualize sometimes. I get comfortable doing the things that I like to do, but Lindsay has helped me to expand my comfort zone (even if only a little bit) and to expand my horizons. It really is a fantastic quality that she has because it has opened me up to so many new things.”

Besides getting married, what is one thing you're looking forward to on your wedding day?

Lindsay: “I love being a host and giving people a good time, so I’m hoping our wedding day it’s the best party I plan. I can’t wait for Kyle to see me in my dress for the first time. I’m so excited to have my parents walk me down the aisle and share a dance with my father. I’m excited to have my sister by my side and my closest friends, including Kyle’s sister. I’m so excited to bring our loved ones together to celebrate the beginning of our lives together and the merging of these two amazing families.”

Kyle: “One of the things that I am looking forward to most about the wedding day is being able to see everyone enjoy the day that we created. We are still at the beginning of the wedding planning process, but we have a great idea of what we want the day to be. It has been difficult to see family and friends over the last year and a half and having a day where can we celebrate and get to see everyone is something that is going to be really special for both of us.”

What's one thing you're looking forward to about marriage?

Lindsay: “By the time we get married we’ll have been with each other for ten years and lived with each other for two. I love coming home to Kyle and feeling the comfort and relief that washes over me when I open the door, and I’m looking forward to this feeling to continue and grow over the years. I’m looking forward to our home growing and learning how to take on new roles in our relationships and families. Kyle is an incredible partner and I can’t wait to figure out life with him.”

Kyle: “Lindsay and I have been together for a little over nine years and one of the things that I am most looking forward to is being able to plan the future together with my wife. There are so many life-changing and important decisions that we will face over the coming years, but we will be able to do that together. Being able to tackle whatever comes our way next is a lot easier when you are doing it with the person that you love.”
