A WEDDING AT THE RYLAND INN
Lauren and Nick’s fall wedding at The Ryland Inn in Whitehouse Station, New Jersey was what dreams are made of! They are an absolute power couple; with Lauren’s attention to romantic and elegant details, and Nick’s organizational skills, these two planned an incredible wedding day! I’d seen a few weddings from fellow industry professionals that had taken place at The Ryland Inn, so it had definitely been on my wishlist of venues to work at for a while. When we received Nick and Lauren’s wedding inquiry early this year, I was pretty ecstatic!
Arturo and I first photographed Nick and Lauren at their Yale University engagement session back in June. Five minutes into their engagement session, we knew their wedding day was going to be nothing short of amazing! They share a beautiful chemistry and are complete naturals in front of the camera. The love Lauren and Nick have for one another truly translates into each of their wedding photographs.
The girls spent the morning and early afternoon getting ready in the Kimblewick House at The Ryland Inn. It was one of the most incredible spaces we’ve ever photographed the “getting ready” portion of a wedding day in! Natural light flooded the rooms, which made my wedding photographer heart skip a beat. After Lauren and her bridesmaids were ready for the festivities ahead, she made her way up to Nick who was waiting for her just outside the Grand Ballroom for their first look. Lauren walked up behind him and tapped his shoulder; as he turned around and saw his bride for the very first time on their wedding day, smiles beamed across both of their faces!
The sun kept coming in and out that day, but by the time Nick and Lauren’s wedding ceremony began, the sun hid out behind a thin layer of clouds, which gave us the perfect lighting to work with! These two were supposed to get married in April, but had to postpone due to the pandemic. For that reason, all of their family and friends cheered even louder as the newlyweds shared their first kiss and walked back up the aisle as husband and wife!
Lauren and Nick’s wedding reception took place inside the Grand Ballroom at The Ryland Inn. Their elegant and romantic candlelit reception was absolutely jaw-dropping! Greenery was intertwined into the ballroom’s chandeliers and brass candelabras, and ran the length of the guest tables. The new Mr. and Mrs. were celebrated late into the evening with sweet toasts, fantastic music, and endless dancing!
THE LOVE STORY
Nick and Lauren met a few years back when they both signed up for a kickball league in New York City with their co-workers. The two were placed on the same team but didn’t talk much during the first season they played. Eventually, both Lauren and Nick’s groups of co-workers became friends, so they started seeing each other a lot more often. After getting to know each other a bit, Lauren made the first move, and the rest is history!
